The Office of Athletic Trainer Licensure regulates individual athletic trainers in the State of Colorado. The Division Director does not regulate clinics where athletic training is practiced. The Division Director is authorized to take disciplinary actions against those who violate the Athletic Trainer Practice Act, Rules, and Regulations. Office activities include issuing registrations to athletic trainers, investigating complaints about athletic trainers, and enforcing disciplinary actions taken by the Division Director.

Permanent Rulemaking Hearing - September 16, 2022

The Office of Athletic Trainer Licensure will hold a Permanent Rulemaking Hearing to allow stakeholders a final opportunity to provide testimony before the Director considers adopting multiple proposed new and revised rules to implement Colorado House Bill 22-1284 (Concerning updates to state surprise billing laws to facilitate the implementation of surprise billing protections, and aligning state law with the federal "No Surprises Act"); Executive Order D 2022-032 (Directing State Agencies to Protect Access to Reproductive Health Care in Colorado); and Executive Order D 2022-034 (Protecting Colorado’s Workforce and Expanding Licensing Opportunities).

The Division of Professions and Occupations' held a Joint Stakeholder Meeting for all Boards and Programs that allowed stakeholders an opportunity to provide feedback, and help develop new rules to implement the directives of Executive Order D-2022-034 (Protecting Colorado’s Workforce and Expanding Licensing Opportunities).

 

Joint Stakeholder Meeting - July 22, 2022

The Division of Professions and Occupations' held a Joint Stakeholder Meeting for all healthcare Boards and Programs that allowed stakeholders an opportunity to provide feedback, and help develop new rules to implement the directives of Executive Order D-2022-032 (Directing State Agencies to Protect Access to Reproductive Health Care in Colorado).

 

Permanent Rulemaking Hearing -  July 15, 2022

The Office of Athletic Trainer Licensure will hold a Permanent Rulemaking Hearing to allow stakeholders a final opportunity to provide testimony before the Director considers adopting the proposed revisions to Rule 1.3 to implement Colorado Senate Bill 22-116 (Concerning the ability of an individual to obtain an occupational credential through the occupational credential portability program).

 

Permanent Rulemaking Hearing - March 17, 2021

The Office of Athletic Trainer Licensure will hold a VIRTUAL Permanent Rulemaking Hearing to allow stakeholders a final opportunity to provide feedback before the Director considers adopting the proposed revisions to Rule 1.13, as required by the Office of Legislative Legal Services (OLLS). The proposed rule revisions correct language that was recently adopted, that conflict with portions of the statutes in Colorado Senate Bill 20-102 (Concerning required disclosures to patients regarding formal actions based on sexual misconduct).

The State Board of Social Work Examiners; State Board of Licensed Professional Counselor Examiners; Office of Hearing Aid Provider Licensure; Office of Audiology Licensure; Office of Naturopathic Doctor Registration; Office of Respiratory Therapy Licensure; Office of Speech-Language Pathology Certification; Board of Chiropractic Examiners; Office of Acupuncture Licensure; Office of Athletic Trainer Licensure; State Board of Psychologist Examiners; Office of Massage Therapy Licensure; Office of Direct-Entry Midwifery Registration; Office of Surgical Assistant And Surgical Technologist Registration; State Board of Addiction Counselor Examiners; State Physical Therapy Board; State Board of Unlicensed Psychotherapists; State Board of Marriage and Family Therapist Examiners; State Board of Nursing; Colorado Dental Board; State Board of Optometry; State Board of Pharmacy; Colorado Medical Board; and Colorado Podiatry Board will hold a VIRTUAL Joint Stakeholder Meeting to inform Stakeholders, and receive feedback on the proposed revisions to the  new rules that were recently adopted to implement Colorado Senate Bill 20-102 (Concerning required disclosures to patients regarding formal actions based on sexual misconduct), as required by the Office of Legislative Legal Services (OLLS).

 

Joint Stakeholder Meeting - September 22, 2020.  Permanent Rulemaking Hearing - October 1, 2020

The Office of Athletic Trainer Licensure held a Joint Stakeholder Meeting on September 22nd, and the Permanent Rulemaking Hearing on October 1st. The Stakeholder Meeting and Permanent Rulemaking Hearing concern the implementation of House Bill 20-1326 (Endorsements/Creation of an Occupational Credential Portability Program), and Senate Bill 20-102 (Patient Disclosures Regarding Sexual Misconduct).

The Office of Athletic Trainer Licensure, Office of Massage Therapy Licensure, Office of Direct-Entry Midwifery Registration, and Office of Surgical Assistant and Surgical Technologist Registration held a VIRTUAL Joint Stakeholder Meeting to receive feedback on the implementation of Senate Bill 20-102 (Patient Disclosures regarding Sexual Offenses).
