2019 Legislation Reorganizes Title 12
On April 25, 2019, Governor Jared Polis signed HB19-1172 Organizational Recodification of Title 12.
This new law recodifies Title 12 of the Colorado Revised Statutes (C.R.S.) and achieves the following:
- Reorganizes and renumbers articles and parts within the title, all of which are administered by the Division of Real Estate, the Division of Conservation, or the Division of Professions and Occupations (DPO) within DORA,
- Relocates into Title 12 current statutes in Article 34 of Title 24 relating to the creation, powers, and duties of DPO in administering the laws regulating professions and occupations (practice acts),
- Creates common provisions that are generally applicable to all practice acts administered by DPO, except as otherwise specified, and modifying the various practice acts to eliminate redundancies with the common provisions, and
- Eliminates provisions in Title 12 that are obsolete.
2019 Sunset Reviews in Progress
The Colorado Office of Policy, Research and Regulatory Reform is currently conducting sunset reviews of the following programs: Accountancy, Medical, Electrical, Passenger Tramway, Podiatry, Psychiatric Technician, and Professional Review Committees. Analysis is performed to determine if the Act and the program are necessary and should be continued, modified, or cease operations. DORA/DPO is no longer accepting or processing Education Equivalency Review packets for any of the Mental Health Professions.
As of July 1, 2016, Colorado DORA/DPO has contracted with the Center for Credentialing &, Education (CCE) to do alleducation equivalency reviews and evaluations for LPC, MFT, PSY and Addiction Counselors. Visit the CCE website at www.cce-global.org.
