State Board of Licensed Professional Counselor Examiners: Legislative Updates

New 2019 Legislation On May 31, 2019, Governor Jared Polis signedHB19-1129 Prohibit Conversion Therapy for a Minor. The new law goes into effect on August 2, 2019, and prohibits a licensed physician specializing in psychiatry or a licensed, certified, or registered mental health care provider from engaging in conversion therapy with a patient under 18 years of age.

Emotional Support Animal Recommendations Require Bonafide Provider-Patient RelationshipA bona fide provider-patient relationship should exist between a licensed healthcare professional and an individual seeking an emotional support animal (ESA) for therapeutic benefit prior to the issuance of a recommendation letter in Colorado. This bonafide provider-patient relationship is defined in the mental health, medical and nursing practice acts.

The Division of Professions and Occupations is pleased to announce that the HPPP Portal has been fully integrated into the Division’s Online Services system. The Online Services system is the same system you currently use to verify a Colorado license. This integration enables consumers to find all Division of Professions and Occupations licensing data, including all Healthcare Professions Profile information, in one location.

Healthcare Professions Profile Program: Create or Update a Profile

The Division of Professions and Occupations is pleased to announce that the Healthcare Professions Profile (HPPP) Portal has been fully integrated intothe Division's Online Services system. The Online Services system is the same system you currently use to renew a license. This integration eliminates the need for two separate logins and passwords, enables consumers to find all Healthcare Professions Profiles in one location and allows real-time updates for all system data.
