Colorado Hearing Aid Provider CE
All Hearing Aid Providers with an Active Colorado license must regularly complete Continuing Education (CE) requirements to practice with that license.
Compliance audits are conducted after each license period ends.
Continuing Education Information
Requirements and Additional Information
Hearing Aid Providers must complete at least 8 hours of CE during each year of the two-year license period. CE must be taken in subjects related to the provider’s scope of practice.
- CE requirements begin immediately upon licensure.
- There is no limit on the number of CE hours that may be completed online.
- CE requirements must also be completed to reinstate or reactivate an expired or inactive license.
Documentation Requirements
Licensees must maintain their own CE records for at least 4 years. Documentation should be a certificate of completion, transcript, or written notice (by the CE provider) that includes the following:
- Licensee's name
- Dates of the CE program
- Hours in attendance
- A synopsis of the course content (course title)
- Name of the course sponsor/provider
Documentation should not be submitted to the Program unless specifically requested.
Exception Options for Continuing Education
Below is a list of exceptions that may be requested. These are limited circumstances and require program approval:
- Military Exemption: A licensee requesting a military exemption to their licensing fees and CE requirements may visit DPO’s Military License Renewal Information webpage for more information.
- All other CE exception requests should be submitted in writing to the Director of the Colorado Hearing Aid Provider Program: dora_dpo_licensing@state.co.us.
