Board activities include licensing optometrists, investigating complaints against optometrists and the unlicensed practice of optometry, and enforcing disciplinary actions against violators of the Optometric Practice Act and Board Rules. Licensure is mandatory to practice medicine in Colorado or to treat Colorado patients.
