About the Colorado PDMP
The Colorado Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) is a powerful tool to help reduce prescription drug misuse, abuse and diversion, including: helping prescribers and dispensers to make more informed decisions when considering prescribing or dispensing a controlled substance to a patient.
Pharmacies upload prescription data every regular business day for controlled medications listed in Schedules II to V that are dispensed to Colorado patients. Prescribers and pharmacists with registered accounts may access information on patients under their care up to three members of their healthcare teams.
Who can obtain information from the PDMP?
- Regulatory boards in the Department of Regulatory Agencies with a valid court order or subpoena.
- Law enforcement officers with a valid court order or subpoena.
- Practitioners and pharmacists in other states treating Colorado patients through the PDMP Inter-Connect.
- Patients can receive a copy of their own information.
- Coroners and Medical Examiners under specified circumstances.
