Professional Review of Health Care Providers: Frequently Asked Questions

Information about Registering a Governing Board

Q: When does a Governing Board have to register with DORA?

A: A professional review governing board ("governing board") that establishes or uses one or more professional review committees to review the practice of persons licensed under Article 240 or licensed under Article 255 and granted authority as advanced practiced nurses shall register with the Division of Professions and Occupations (DPO) within 30 days after approving the written bylaws, policies, or procedures for the professional review committee.

Q: How do I register a Governing Board with DORA?

A: First, search the List of Registered Governing Boards to ensure that your governing board isn't already registered with DORA. If your governing board is not registered, proceed with registering.

To register, access the Professional Review Governing Board Registration System, create an account and follow the prompts to enter the information about your governing board. We recommend that different names and email addresses are entered for the "Primary Contact" and "Alternate Contact". The person who registers the governing board is considered the "Responsible Individual". The "Responsible Individual" will be able to make changes/updates and submit an annual report.
